It will be an unparelleled spectaculair day the 9th of March. On Nyepi Day, a day devoted to the spiritual relation beween the Balinese people and the Gods another rare event from the universe will take place “a solar eclipse”.
The earth, moon and sun will be almost perfectly aligned so the moon blocks the view on the sun almost entirely, following her own predictable orbit in space. The daylight turns to dusk and the temperature drops a few degrees. The total eclipse will be visible from Sumatra, Borneo and Sulawesi, but Bali is close enough to that line to experience a partial solar eclipse.
From start to finish the phenomenon will take 2 hours and 20 minutes. At 07:22 am the moon starts to cover the sun with the maximum coverage at 08:27 am. From around 09:42 the sun shines as usual and it will look like nothing happened.
